Frontpage users often ask "How do I manage multiple domains within a single vds"? Here are the steps required to do so.
Step 1. Create folders for all of the domains that you wish to manage with Frontpage. The folders cannot be nested beneath another Frontpage site.
The correct way to do this is as follows.
/var/www/html (existing Main Account)
/var/domain2
/var/domain3
This is NOT supported:
/var/www/html
/var/www/html/domain2
/var/www/html/domain3
Step 2. Add domain pointers by logging into your control panel and Clicking:
Domain Settings | New
Enter the domain name and a Custom Directory that you created in step 1.
Note: The domain name is in the form of domain.com NOT www.domain.com
Step 3. Install Frontpage Extensions via the ValueApps | Web Development Section of the Control Panel if you haven't already.
Click on the "Admin" link next to the Installed FrontPages2002 ValueApp in the Control Panel.
Step 4. Once you are inside the FrontPage Server Administrator click:
Extend a Virtual Server
Enter the path of the VDS apache conf file normally /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
Leave the port set to 80
Enter the Domain Name
Enter the Frontpage Administrator username and password.
Enter the unix user account username. The is the account name that you sign into the control panel with.
Enter vuser for the Unix Group name.
