Well, since it was just released and they are already finding bugs...

http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=29161

It will probably be a while before we upgrade.

I'm not in any big hurry to dev for php5 yet. Seems like we'd want them to work the bugs out first. However I wouldn't mind playing with it. anyone read if there is an issue running both? We can just designate that apache send .php5 to php 5 until such a time as we want to use it widely.

I'd like to start developing with a php SDK that only works with PHP5. How easy is it to upgrade?

When will it come as standard with the webhosting?

Hi Leonie,

In our current VDS setup, upgrading to PHP 5 is not possible. We have not heard from Sphera, our hosting software vendor, on when they plan to offer PHP 5. I do not expect it anytime soon. Having said that, we do have FreeBSD jail servers, that I believe do offer PHP 5. We do not offer these jail setups publicly, but might be willing to set one up for you. I will check on it and let you know.

Its been a few months, so I thought I would see if you have any updates on when php5 might be creeping in?

Hi fankfort,

I guess the update would be that we have no update :) We haven't heard anything new.

PHP 5 couild be compiled as a binary and installed in your account pretty easily. You would have to run it as a cgi script instead of an apache module.

FYI...rumors are...

MySQL 4 will be available in early Q3. We still don't have a date for PHP 5.

Any news on PHP5? Would like to use a PHP5 framework in the real world, and not just my test server.
