New version of SpamAssassin?

Hello everyone...

I am having a few problems with spam messages getting through, and I am wondering if the latest version of SpamAssassin (3.1.0, Sept. 05) would work better.

According the the mail headers, the version running on their now is:

SpamAssassin 3.0.1 (2004-10-22)

Alternatively, if someone else has other suggestions on tweaking the settings to stop the flow of spam (anywhere from 5 to 30 a day!).

Here is an example of the header. As you can see, I turned the reporting level down to 3, but these buggers are scoring very very low!

X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.0.1 (2004-10-22) on

sdadmin14.hardhathosting.com

X-Spam-Status: No, score=-1.1 required=3.0 tests=ALL_TRUSTED,MISSING_SUBJECT,

NO_REAL_NAME autolearn=ham version=3.0.1

X-Spam-Level:

Any input is greatly appreciated!

One other thought...

Maybe I need to get the "autolearn" on? In the header of the e-mails it says "autolearn=no".

It is starting to get frustrating -- 30+ junk messages a day, and they seem very "run of the mill" type spam. I.e., "OEM software", "Online pharmaceutical", etc.

Any input is welcome!

Okay, forget getting a new version up (I assume that is not probable, since I haven't heard anything...). My new question:

Can I "black list" a certain subject line? There is one peice of spam that just keeps coming and coming with the same subject.

Google procmail and write a procmail filter. The config file is located in /etc/procmailrc

I am still wondering the same thing -- Hard Hat guys, is there a way to run a new version of Spam Assassin?

Curently our software vendor has not released a newer version than what we offer. As soon as they release a newer version we will up date the servers. From the amount of spam that has been described that is close to the minimal amount a free application like spamassassin will catch even with a newer version.

We offer a Spam/Virus Service that will reduce the number significantly less than that however like any spam filtering it does not block 100% of spam.
